BMW 531 on ainulaadne prototüüp, mis valmis 1951. aastal BMW peainseneri Fritz Fiedleri juhtimisel eesmärgiga luua taskukohane väikeauto Saksamaa sõjajärgsele turule. Mudelil oli 600 cm³ bokser-tüüpi kahesilindriline mootor ja tagavedu, disainilt meenutas see kompaktne sõiduk Fiat Topolinot. Kuigi algne plaan nägi ette masstoodangut, otsustas BMW juhtkond siiski keskenduda luksuslikumatele mudelitele nagu 501 seeria, mistõttu jäi 531 vaid üheksainsaks prototüübiks, mida tootmisse ei võetud. Selle haruldase peatüki BMW ajaloost on Autocult jäädvustanud mõõtkavas 1:43, mudel on toodetud limiteeritud seeriana, kokku 333 eksemplari.
The BMW 531 is a unique prototype developed in 1951 under the leadership of BMW’s chief engineer Fritz Fiedler, with the aim of creating an affordable small car for the post-war German market. The model featured a 600 cm³ boxer-type twin-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive, and its compact design was reminiscent of the Fiat Topolino. Although the initial plan was mass production, BMW’s management ultimately decided to focus on more luxurious models like the 501 series, leaving the 531 as a one-off prototype that never reached production. This rare chapter in BMW’s history has been captured by Autocult in 1:43 scale, produced as a limited edition of 333 pieces.
