The BMW 4 Series was introduced in 2013, when BMW decided to separate the coupé and convertible versions of the 3 Series into their own distinct model family. With this step, the aim was to emphasize their more independent identity, sportier character and more emotional image. While the 3 Series has traditionally represented BMW’s more versatile and practical midsize offering, the 4 Series was created primarily for those who value more expressive design, a lower body profile and a more elegant coupé-like silhouette.
The 4 Series models combine sporty styling, dynamic handling and everyday usability in a way that is very characteristic of BMW. Within this model family, classic coupés, convertibles, four-door Gran Coupés and high-performance M versions all come together, bringing with them the performance and sharpness associated with BMW M automobiles. Over the years, the 4 Series has become an important part of BMW’s line-up, offering a more visually distinctive and more sporting alternative alongside the traditional sedan.
This page presents different interpretations of the 4 Series, ranging from more elegant road-going models to more extreme M versions. The collection already includes examples such as the F32 generation 4 Series, the G82 generation BMW M4 CSL, and the electric BMW i4 M50, which clearly shows how the idea of the 4 Series has continued into a new era.
