I started collecting model cars in the late 1980s. At first, my collection consisted mainly of Soviet-made models, although it also included a few Norev models that were purchased with foreign currency – something rather special at the time. Since then, I have continued collecting models with varying intensity, but the hobby has remained with me to this day. Until the early 2000s, my collection focused mainly on Russian models, and at one point it included approximately 150 of them. BMW models were already part of my collection at that time, but in the early 2000s I decided to give the collection a clearer direction and concentrate exclusively on BMW road cars. Since then, I have sold most of my earlier collection and have steadily expanded it with BMW models.

About the collection
The aim of the collection is not simply to bring together the best-known or most powerful BMWs, but to provide as broad an overview as possible of the development of BMW automobiles through different eras. The collection therefore includes models representing BMW’s early automotive history as well as the latest production cars. Alongside regular road cars, the collection also includes prototypes, concept cars, rare special models and coachbuilt cars, as well as models connected with BMW M and the marque’s motorsport heritage. I am particularly interested in cars that have some technical, design-related or historical significance in BMW history – whether they marked the beginning of a new model series, introduced an unusual body concept, featured an important engine or represented a concept car whose ideas later appeared in production vehicles. Over time, the collection has therefore developed into a small-scale overview of BMW history in 1:43. It makes it possible to see how BMW design, model ranges and technical solutions have evolved over the decades and how individual cars influenced the models that followed them.

I created this website primarily to organise and document my collection and to share it with other BMW and model-car enthusiasts. For this reason, the site is not limited to photographs of the scale models. Wherever possible, I have also included information about the history, engineering and significance of the real cars represented by the models. Rare prototypes and concept cars are particularly interesting in this respect, as information about them can sometimes be limited or differ between sources. I also try to highlight connections between different BMW models – for example, how a particular concept car influenced a later production model or which car marked the beginning of an important technical or design direction for BMW. The website continues to grow together with the collection. As new models are added, I also try to expand their background information and photographs. The latest additions to the collection are highlighted on the home page.
Sources
The model descriptions and historical articles on this website are compiled using a variety of sources. The main sources include official materials from BMW Group Classic, the BMW Group Archive, BMW Group PressClub and BMW M. I also use model manufacturers’ catalogues and product information, as well as automotive history publications and other specialist sources where appropriate. My aim is to provide information that is as accurate and well verified as possible. However, in the case of older, rare or prototype vehicles, technical specifications, production figures or dates may sometimes differ between sources. In such cases, I prefer BMW’s own historical archives or other primary sources whenever possible.
