BMW DIXI Eil-Lieferwagen “Deutsche Reichspost” kuulub BMW autoloo kõige varasemasse perioodi ning näitab hästi, et DIXI põhjal ei loodud ainult väikseid sõiduautosid, vaid ka tarbesõidukeid. 1920. aastate lõpus ja 1930. aastate alguses kujunes DIXI/BMW 3/15 väikeauto oluliseks aluseks mitmele erinevale keretüübile ning selle tehnilist baasi kasutati ka kergete kaubaveoks ja teenindusülesanneteks mõeldud versioonide valmistamisel. Just sellised mudelid aitavad hästi mõista, kui mitmekülgne oli BMW kõige varasem sõidu- ja tarbesõidukite ajastu.

The BMW DIXI Eil-Lieferwagen “Deutsche Reichspost” belongs to the earliest period of BMW’s automotive history and clearly shows that the DIXI platform was used not only for small passenger cars, but also for commercial vehicles. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, the DIXI/BMW 3/15 developed into an important basis for several different body styles, and its technical foundation was also used for light delivery and service vehicles. Models like this help to illustrate just how versatile BMW’s earliest passenger and utility vehicle era really was.
The Eil-Lieferwagen represented the more practical side of this model family. The Deutsche Reichspost livery reflects a period when small and economical commercial vehicles became increasingly important for urban transport and local deliveries. Compared with regular passenger cars, the role of this type of vehicle was primarily to fulfil working duties, yet technically it remained true to the same simple and dependable concept on which the entire 3/15 family was based. This makes the Eil-Lieferwagen an interesting example of how BMW’s early automotive production was not limited to small passenger cars, but also included practical working vehicles.
Technically, the Eil-Lieferwagen was based on the same straightforward construction as the other DIXI/BMW 3/15 models. The 747 cc inline-four engine producing 15 horsepower did not deliver great performance, but thanks to its low weight, simple engineering and economical operation, it was well suited to lighter delivery work and service duties. It is precisely such utility versions that show the significance of BMW’s first automobile series not only as the beginning of the marque’s car production, but also as a flexible technical platform for different uses.
