BMW 850i (E31) on esimese põlvkonna 8. seeria luksuslik grand tourer, mis tähistas BMW jaoks 1990. aastate alguses täiesti uue tippkupee saabumist. Mudel jõudis müügile 1989. aastal ning tõi BMW mudelivalikusse väga madala, laia ja tehniliselt ambitsioonika kupee, mis eristus selgelt varasemast 6. seeriast. E31 paistis silma oma voolujoonelise disaini, peidetud esitulede ja väga moodsa tehnilise ülesehitusega, olles omal ajal üks BMW kõige eksklusiivsemaid ja kallimaid seeriamudeleid.

Mudelit pakuti nii automaat- kui ka manuaalkäigukastiga ning see kehastas hästi BMW 1990. aastate alguse tipptehnoloogiat, ühendades suure jõuallika, luksusliku varustuse ja pikamaasõiduks sobiva iseloomu. 1991. aasta auto on selle mudeli varase perioodi hea näide, sest just siis kinnistas 850i oma koha BMW tippkupeena enne hilisemaid 850Ci ja 850CSi versioone. E31 850i/850Ci M70-mootoriga versioone toodeti kokku 20 072 autot.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Minichampsi toodang. Mudelit toodeti 3024 eksemplari ning see kujutab 1991. aasta autot.

The BMW 850i (E31) is the first-generation 8 Series luxury grand tourer that marked the arrival of a completely new BMW flagship coupé in the early 1990s. The model went on sale in 1989 and introduced a very low, wide and technically ambitious coupé that clearly stood apart from the earlier 6 Series. The E31 stood out through its sleek design, pop-up headlights and very modern technical layout, making it one of BMW’s most exclusive and expensive production models of its time.
Technically, the BMW 850i used a 5.0-litre V12 engine producing 300 horsepower. It was offered with both automatic and manual transmissions and represented BMW’s early-1990s top-end technology by combining a large engine, luxurious equipment and strong long-distance touring ability. A 1991 car is a good example of the model’s early period, as the 850i was then firmly establishing itself as BMW’s flagship coupé before the later 850Ci and 850CSi versions arrived. A total of 20,072 E31 850i/850Ci models with the M70 engine were built.
The model in my collection is produced by Minichamps. A total of 3,024 model cars were made, and it represents a 1991 car.
