BMW X4 (F26) oli esimese põlvkonna X4 ning mudel, millega BMW tõi oma X-seeriasse väiksema mõõduga Sports Activity Coupé kontseptsiooni. Mudelit esitleti 2014. aastal ning see ühendas BMW X3 praktilise põhikontseptsiooni kupeeliku katusejoone ja sportlikuma üldilmega. F26 paistis silma madalama ja dünaamilisema proportsiooni, tõusva küljejoone ning selgelt emotsionaalsema disainiga, mis eristas seda tavalisemast X3-st. See oli mudel, millega BMW laiendas edukalt X6-ga alguse saanud kupeeliku linnamaasturi ideed väiksemasse klassi.

The BMW X4 (F26) was the first-generation X4 and the model with which BMW introduced the Sports Activity Coupé concept into the smaller end of its X range. Revealed in 2014, it combined the practical foundation of the BMW X3 with a coupé-like roofline and a more sporting overall character. The F26 stood out through its lower and more dynamic proportions, rising shoulder line and a clearly more emotional design, distinguishing it from the more conventional X3. It was the model that successfully extended the coupé-SUV idea first introduced by the X6 into a smaller segment.
Technically, the BMW X4 (F26) was based largely on the same architecture as the X3 (F25) and was offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines. Production began in spring 2014 and took place at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in the United States. A 2014 car represents the very earliest phase of the model line, when the X4 introduced a new niche into BMW’s range – a premium SAV with more sporting style, sacrificing some practicality in favour of design and dynamism. The importance of the F26 lies in the way it helped establish the X4 as a distinct model line within BMW’s X family.
