BMW 733i (E23) oli mudel, millega BMW avas 1977. aastal täiesti uue peatüki oma luksusautode ajaloos. Tegemist oli esimese ametliku 7. seeria põlvkonnaga, mis asendas varasemad E3 sedaanid ning kujunes kiiresti BMW uueks esindusmudeliks. 1977. aasta auto esindas selle mudelirea algust, mil BMW tõi luksusklassi senisest selgema juhikeskse lähenemise, ühendades esindusliku välimuse, kuuesilindrilise jõuallika ja sportlikuma sõidutunnetuse. Just E23 kaudu kujunes 7. seeriast mudel, mis jäi aastakümneteks BMW luksusliku tippklassi kandjaks.
Tehniliselt kasutas BMW 733i 3,2-liitrist ridakuues mootorit M30 perekonnast, mille töömaht oli 3210 cm³ ja võimsus umbes 197 hobujõudu. Selle mudeli iseloomu määrasid sujuv jõuülekanne, hea pöördemoment ja kõrgetasemeline sõidumugavus, mis olid ühendatud BMW-le omase tasakaaluka juhitavusega. E23 põlvkond tõi BMW luksusautodesse ka rohkem elektroonikat, parema ergonoomika ja moodsama salongilahenduse, säilitades samas klassikalise vaoshoitud joone. Nii oli 733i oluline mudel mitte ainult 7. seeria alguses, vaid ka kogu BMW luksussedaanide arenguloos.
Minu kollektsioonis olev Minichampsi mudelauto kujutab 1977. aasta autot ning pärineb piiratud tiraažist, kokku toodeti 3024 eksemplari.

The BMW 733i (E23) was the model with which BMW opened an entirely new chapter in its luxury-car history in 1977. It was the first official generation of the 7 Series, replacing the earlier E3 sedans and quickly becoming BMW’s new flagship. A 1977 car represents the very beginning of this model line, when BMW brought a more clearly driver-focused approach into the luxury segment by combining prestigious styling, an inline-six engine and a more sporting driving feel. It was through the E23 that the 7 Series became the model that would carry BMW’s luxury flagship role for decades to come.
Technically, the BMW 733i used a 3.2-litre inline-six engine from the M30 family, with a displacement of 3210 cc and an output of around 197 horsepower. The character of the car was defined by smooth power delivery, strong torque and a high level of ride comfort, combined with the balanced handling typical of BMW. The E23 generation also introduced more electronics, improved ergonomics and a more modern interior layout into BMW luxury cars, while retaining a restrained and classic design language. In this way, the 733i was an important model not only at the beginning of the 7 Series story, but also in the wider development of BMW luxury sedans.
The Minichamps model car in my collection represents a 1977 car and comes from a limited production run, with 3,024 pieces produced in total.
