BMW Alpina B6 3.5 (E30) oli mudel, millega Alpina viis väikese 3. seeria kere ja suure kuuesilindrilise mootori väga erakordseks kombinatsiooniks. 1986. aasta auto esindab perioodi, mil Alpina pakkus BMW E30 põhjal luksuslikumat ja eksklusiivsemat tõlgendust sportlikust sedaanist või kupeest, liikudes oma lähenemises teistsugust rada kui BMW M. Kui M3 rõhus selgemalt motorspordile ja kõrgetel pööretel töötavale neljasilindrilisele mootorile, siis B6 3.5 pakkus suure töömahuga ridakuuesest mootorist tulenevat jõudu, sujuvust ja vaoshoitud, kuid väga enesekindlat iseloomu. Just see teeb B6 3.5-st ühe kõige huvitavama ja ebatavalisema Alpina mudeli kogu E30 ajastul.
Tehniliselt kasutas BMW Alpina B6 3.5 3,5-liitrist ridakuues mootorit töömahuga 3430 cm³. 1986. aasta versiooni võimsuseks oli umbes 254 hobujõudu ning Alpina Archive’i järgi toodeti B6 3.5 mudelit aastatel 1984–1990 kokku 219 eksemplari. See teeb sellest väga haruldase mudeli isegi Alpina mõõdupuu järgi. B6 3.5 ühendas E30 kompaktse kere, tagaveo ja Alpinale omase luksuslikuma viimistluse väga erilise tervikuna, mis on tänapäeval hinnatud nii BMW kui ka Alpina ajaloos.

The BMW Alpina B6 3.5 (E30) was the model with which Alpina turned the compact 3 Series body and a large straight-six engine into a very unusual combination. A 1986 car represents the period in which Alpina offered a more luxurious and exclusive interpretation of the sporty BMW E30, following a different path from BMW M. While the M3 focused more clearly on motorsport and a high-revving four-cylinder engine, the B6 3.5 offered the strength, smoothness and understated but very confident character of a large-capacity inline-six. It is precisely this that makes the B6 3.5 one of the most interesting and unusual Alpina models of the entire E30 era.
Technically, the BMW Alpina B6 3.5 used a 3.5-litre inline-six engine with a displacement of 3430 cc. The 1986 version produced around 254 horsepower, and according to Alpina Archive, a total of 219 B6 3.5 cars were built between 1984 and 1990. That makes it a very rare model even by Alpina standards. The B6 3.5 combined the compact E30 body, rear-wheel drive and Alpina’s more refined character into a very distinctive package, now highly regarded in both BMW and Alpina history.
