BMW 3 Series Convertible (E93) oli mudel, millega BMW viis viienda põlvkonna 3. seeria kabrioleti uude ajastusse, asendades varasema pehme katuse modernse metallist kokkuklapitava kõvakatusega. See muutis E93 iseloomu võrreldes eelkäijaga märgatavalt, sest auto ühendas nüüd veelgi selgemalt kupee ja kabrioleti omadused. Suletud katusega mõjus E93 elegantse ja küpse kupeena, avatud kujul aga pakkus klassikalist avatud sõidu elamust. Just see kahe iseloomu ühendamine tegi E93-st ühe oma ajastu eristuvama 3. seeria mudeli.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudelauto on AutoArti toodang.

The BMW 3 Series Convertible (E93) was the model with which BMW brought the fifth-generation 3 Series convertible into a new era, replacing the previous soft top with a modern retractable hardtop. This gave the E93 a noticeably different character from its predecessor, as it more clearly combined the qualities of both a coupé and a convertible. With the roof closed, the E93 had the appearance of an elegant and mature coupé, while with the roof down it offered the classic experience of open-top motoring. It was precisely this combination of two distinct characters that made the E93 one of the more distinctive models in the 3 Series range of its time. At the same time, it retained BMW’s driver-focused character, balanced weight distribution and sporty overall feel, although with a slightly more refined and luxurious emphasis than before.
Technically, the E93 was based on the same generation as the E90 sedan, E91 Touring and E92 Coupé, but its defining feature was the electrically folding metal roof, which influenced both the body structure and the overall character of the car. The engine range included various four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with outputs ranging from approximately 143 to 306 horsepower depending on version. Production of the E93 Convertible lasted from December 2006 until October 2013, and a total of 256,375 cars were built during that period. This underlines its importance within the 3 Series family as a body style that combined open-top driving, modern engineering and BMW’s characteristic driving dynamics.
