Võrreldes eelkäijaga tõi E89 kaasa täiesti uue iseloomu, sest klassikalise tekstiilkatuse asemel sai see elektriliselt kokkuklapitava metallkatuse.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Minichampsi toodang. Mudelit toodeti 1008 eksemplari. Karbil on mudeliaastaks märgitud 2008, kuigi BMW Z4 (E89) seeriatootmine algas 2009. aastal.

The BMW Z4 (E89) was the second generation of the Z4 and the model with which BMW moved its two-seat roadster in a more luxurious and technically sophisticated direction. It was unveiled in late 2008, while series production began in 2009. Compared with its predecessor, the E89 introduced a completely new character, because it replaced the traditional fabric roof with an electrically folding metal roof. That made the Z4 both an elegant coupé and an open roadster, giving the model a more mature and refined identity. With this generation, BMW placed greater emphasis on comfort, perceived quality and a grand touring character suited to longer journeys.
Technically, the BMW Z4 (E89) was offered with a range of four- and six-cylinder petrol engines, including both naturally aspirated and turbocharged units. Production took place in Regensburg, Germany, and the model remained in production until 2016. The significance of the E89 lies in the way it moved the Z4 clearly into a more luxurious class and differentiated it from its predecessor not only through design, but also through its overall concept.
The model in my collection is produced by Minichamps. A total of 1,008 model cars were made. The box identifies it as a 2008 model, although series production of the BMW Z4 (E89) began in 2009.
Technical data at a glance:
Production period: 2009–2016.
Production location: Regensburg, Germany.
Engine: 4- and 6-cylinder petrol engines.
Power output: depending on version, up to 340 hp in the sDrive35is.
Production total: BMW has not clearly published a separate overall total for the E89 in the sources used here.
Special feature: first Z4 with a folding metal roadster-coupé roof.
