BMW M4 CSL (G82) on G82 põlvkonna kõige äärmuslikum ja rajakesksem seeriaversioon, mis tõi tagasi legendaarse CSL tähistuse BMW M mudelivalikusse. Mudelit esitleti 2022. aastal BMW M 50. sünnipäeva tähistamise ajal ning see loodi veelgi teravama alternatiivina juba niigi väga võimekale M4 Competition Coupéle. Võrreldes tavamudeliga eristus M4 CSL agressiivsema aerodünaamika, väiksema massi, kaheistmelise salongi ja sihipärasema seadistusega, mis rõhutasid selgelt selle ringrajale suunatud iseloomu.
CSL tähistus viitab ajalooliselt mõistele „Coupé Sport Lightweight” ning M4 CSL oli selle kontseptsiooni kaasaegne tõlgendus: vähem massi, rohkem jõudlust ja veelgi otsesem sõidukogemus. Mudeli kaalu vähendati umbes 100 kg võrra võrreldes M4 Competition Coupéga. Selle saavutamiseks kasutati muu hulgas süsinikkiust detaile, kergemaid istmeid, eemaldati tagaistmed ning lihtsustati osa mugavusvarustusest. Tulemuseks oli märksa kompromissitum M4, mille fookus oli eelkõige ringrajal ja juhitunnetusel.

Tootmine algas Dingolfingi tehases 2022. aasta juulis ning BMW teatas ametlikult, et mudelit valmistatakse täpselt 1000 eksemplari.

BMW M4 CSL (G82) is the most extreme and track-focused series-production version of the G82 generation, bringing the legendary CSL designation back to the BMW M model range. The model was presented in 2022 during the celebrations of BMW M’s 50th anniversary and was created as an even sharper alternative to the already highly capable M4 Competition Coupé. Compared with the regular model, the M4 CSL stood out with more aggressive aerodynamics, reduced weight, a two-seat interior and a more focused setup, all clearly emphasising its track-oriented character.
The CSL designation historically stands for “Coupé Sport Lightweight”, and the M4 CSL was a modern interpretation of that concept: less weight, more performance and an even more direct driving experience. The model’s weight was reduced by around 100 kg compared with the M4 Competition Coupé. This was achieved through the use of carbon-fibre components, lighter seats, the removal of the rear seats and the simplification of some comfort equipment. The result was a significantly more uncompromising M4, focused above all on race-track performance and driver feedback.
Technically, the BMW M4 CSL used the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged S58 straight-six engine, producing 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Power was sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h took 3.7 seconds, while top speed was electronically limited to 307 km/h. Production began at the Dingolfing plant in July 2022, and BMW officially announced that exactly 1,000 units would be produced.
The BMW M4 CSL is one of the most important and desirable modern BMW M special models. It raised the capability of the G82 model family to a new level after the M4 Competition and connected modern M4 technology with the historic CSL philosophy.
