BMW Z8 (E52) oli Z-seeria tippmudel ning üks BMW kõige erilisemaid ja prestiižsemaid roadstereid. Mudelit esitleti 1999. aastal, seeriatootmine algas samuti 1999. aastal ning auto kujutas endast kaasaegset austusavaldust 1950. aastate legendaarsele BMW 507-le. Z8 ühendas klassikalise pika kapoti ja lühikese tagaosa proportsiooni moodsa tehnika, alumiiniumkonstruktsiooni ja väga kõrge jõudlusega. Selle mudeli tähtsus seisneb selles, et Z8 ei olnud lihtsalt roadster, vaid BMW teadlik katse luua tulevane klassik, mis ühendaks luksuse, käsitöölaadse kvaliteeditunde ja sportliku iseloomu.
Tehniliselt kasutas BMW Z8 4,9-liitrist S62 V8-mootorit, mis pärines BMW M5-st ja arendas 400 hobujõudu. Jõud kanti tagaratastele kuuekäigulise manuaalkäigukasti kaudu ning alumiiniumist kere ja šassii aitasid hoida auto tehniliselt väga erilisena ka oma ajastu kontekstis. Tootmine toimus Münchenis ning kokku valmistati 5700–5703 autot, sõltuvalt allika arvestusviisist. 1999. aasta auto esindab Z8 kõige varasemat tootmisperioodi, mil see mudel jõudis reaalsesse tootmisse pärast 1997. aasta Z07 kontseptauto edu.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Minichampsi toodang ja tegemist on BMW ametliku edasimüüjamudeliga. Mudel kujutab 1999. aasta autot.

The BMW Z8 (E52) was the flagship model of the Z Series and one of the most special and prestigious roadsters BMW ever built. It was presented in 1999, series production also began in 1999, and the car served as a modern homage to the legendary BMW 507 of the 1950s. The Z8 combined the classic long-bonnet, short-rear-deck proportions with modern technology, aluminium construction and very high performance. The importance of the model lies in the fact that the Z8 was not merely a roadster, but BMW’s deliberate attempt to create a future classic that would combine luxury, craftsmanship-like quality and sporting character.
Technically, the BMW Z8 used the 4.9-litre S62 V8 from the BMW M5, producing 400 horsepower. Power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, while the aluminium body and chassis made the car technically very distinctive even in the context of its era. Production took place in Munich, and total output reached about 5,700 to 5,703 cars depending on the source’s counting method. A 1999 car represents the earliest production phase of the Z8, when the model entered reality after the success of the 1997 Z07 concept.
