BMW 125i (F20) kuulus teise põlvkonna 1. seeriasse ning esindas selle mudelipere sportlikumat ülemist otsa. F20 debüteeris 2011. aastal ning tähistas BMW jaoks uut etappi kompaktklassis, tuues kaasa moodsama disaini, täiustatud tehnoloogia ja suurema igapäevase kasutusmugavuse. Samal ajal säilitas see mudel põlvkonnale omase tagaveolise arhitektuuri, mis eristas 1. seeriat paljudest konkurentidest ja andis sellele jätkuvalt väga juhikeskse iseloomu.
Väliselt oli F20 eelkäijast dünaamilisem ja jõulisem, säilitades samas BMW-le omased proportsioonid – pika kapoti, väljendusrikka neeruvõre ja kompaktse tagaosa. 125i kasutas 2,0-liitrist neljasilindrilist TwinPower Turbo mootorit, mille võimsus ulatus 218 hobujõuni ja pöördemoment 310 njuutonmeetrini. See võimaldas 0–100 km/h kiirendust umbes 6,4 sekundiga, pakkudes kompaktses formaadis väga head segu sportlikkusest ja igapäevasest kasutatavusest. F20 tähtsus seisneb ka selles, et see jäi viimaseks tagaveoliseks 1. seeriaks, mida paljud BMW entusiastid peavad tänaseni selle mudelirea kõige klassikalisemaks tõlgenduseks.

The BMW 125i (F20) belonged to the second generation of the 1 Series and represented the sportier upper end of the model range. The F20 debuted in 2011 and marked a new stage for BMW in the compact class, bringing more modern design, improved technology and greater everyday comfort. At the same time, it retained the rear-wheel-drive architecture that set the 1 Series apart from many rivals and gave it a distinctly driver-focused character.
Visually, the F20 was more dynamic and more assertive than its predecessor, while still keeping the proportions typical of BMW – a long bonnet, expressive kidney grille and compact rear section. The 125i used a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine producing 218 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. This allowed 0–100 km/h in around 6.4 seconds, giving the car a very strong balance of sportiness and everyday usability in a compact format. The significance of the F20 also lies in the fact that it remained the last rear-wheel-drive 1 Series, which many BMW enthusiasts still regard as the most traditional interpretation of the model line.
