BMW 1. seeria Coupé (E82) debüteeris 2007. aastal ning tõi BMW mudelivalikusse tagasi kompaktse tagaveolise sportkupee, mille vaimne side ulatus varasemate klassikaliste väiksemate BMW kupeedeni. E82 põhines tehniliselt 1. seeria luukpäral, kuid sai täiesti oma kerekuju, pikema kapoti, lühikese tagaosa ja selgelt sportlikuma üldilme. Just see muutis selle mudeli paljude entusiastide jaoks kaasaegseks tõlgenduseks BMW klassikalisest juhikesksest väikekupeedest.

Mudelirea tippu kuulus 135i Coupé, mis kasutas 3,0-liitrist kuuesilindrilist twin-turbo mootorit võimsusega 306 hobujõudu. Tagavedu, tasakaalustatud massijaotus ja jäigem kere tegid E82-st ühe oma ajastu kõige hinnatuma juhitavusega kompaktse BMW. The BMW 1 Series Coupé (E82) debuted in 2007 and brought a compact rear-wheel-drive sports coupé back into BMW’s model range, echoing the spirit of the brand’s earlier small coupés. Technically related to the 1 Series hatchback, the E82 received its own body shape, with a longer bonnet, short rear section and a clearly more sporting overall appearance. That made it, for many enthusiasts, a modern interpretation of the classic BMW driver-focused compact coupé.
Technically, the BMW 1 Series Coupé was offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, including both four- and six-cylinder versions. At the top of the regular range sat the 135i Coupé, powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six producing 306 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive, balanced weight distribution and a stiffer body made the E82 one of the most highly regarded compact BMWs of its era in terms of handling. Production continued until 2013, before it was replaced by the 2 Series Coupé.
