BMW X6 (E71) oli esimese põlvkonna X6 ning mudel, millega BMW lõi täiesti uue sõidukisegmendi. Mudelit esitleti 2008. aastal ning BMW kirjeldas seda kui maailma esimest Sports Activity Coupé’d, ühendades suure linnamaasturi jõulise kohalolu ja kupeeliku katusejoone. E71 paistis kohe silma oma vastuolulise, kuid väga eristuva disainiga ning eristus tavalisemast X5-st selgelt sportlikuma ja emotsionaalsema üldmulje poolest. Just selle mudeliga tõi BMW turule kupeeliku maasturi idee, millest kujunes hiljem terve omaette mudelisuund.
Tehniliselt põhines BMW X6 (E71) suurel määral X5 (E70) tehnilisel alusel ning seda pakuti kuue- ja kaheksasilindriliste bensiini- ja diiselmootoritega. X6 tuli standardvarustuses xDrive nelikveoga ning oli esimene auto maailmas, millel kasutati Dynamic Performance Control süsteemi, mis jagas veojõudu mitte ainult esi- ja tagasilla, vaid ka tagarataste vahel. Tootmine toimus Spartanburgis Ameerika Ühendriikides ning esimese põlvkonna X6 kogumüük ulatus enne järglase saabumist ligi 250 000 autoni. See teeb E71-st väga olulise mudeli BMW X-seeria ajaloos.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Schuco toodang. Tegemist on piiratud tiraažiga ning mudelit toodeti 1500 eksemplari.

The BMW X6 (E71) was the first-generation X6 and the model with which BMW created an entirely new vehicle segment. Introduced in 2008, BMW described it as the world’s first Sports Activity Coupé, combining the powerful presence of a large SUV with a coupé-like roofline. The E71 immediately stood out through its controversial yet highly distinctive design, clearly separating itself from the more conventional X5 with a more sporting and emotional overall character. It was this model that introduced the idea of the coupé-style SUV, which later became an entire model category in its own right.
Technically, the BMW X6 (E71) was based largely on the same architecture as the X5 (E70) and was offered with six- and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The X6 came as standard with xDrive all-wheel drive and was the first vehicle in the world to use Dynamic Performance Control, distributing power not only between the front and rear axles but also between the two rear wheels. Production took place in Spartanburg in the United States, and sales of the first-generation X6 reached nearly 250,000 cars before its successor arrived. That makes the E71 a very important model in the history of BMW’s X range.
The model in my collection is produced by Schuco. It is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces.
