BMW 520 (E12) on esimese põlvkonna 5. seeria sedaan, millega BMW lõi aluse mudeliperekonnale, mis on jäänud margi üheks tähtsaimaks sambaks tänaseni. E12 põlvkonda esitleti 1972. aastal ning see tõi BMW mudelivalikusse selge ja modernse ärisedaani kontseptsiooni, mis ühendas sportlikkuse, mugavuse ja igapäevase kasutatavuse. 520 oli selle mudelirea üks tuntumaid versioone ning aitas kujundada 5. seeria identiteeti autojuhile suunatud, kuid samas väärika keskklassi sedaanina.
Tehniliselt kasutas BMW 520 sõltuvalt tootmisajast 2,0-liitrist nelja- või kuuesilindrilist mootorit, kuid mudeli olemus jäi kogu tootmisperioodi vältel samaks: tegemist oli tasakaalustatud ja elegantse BMW-ga, mis pakkus oma ajastu kohta head dünaamikat ja kõrget sõidumugavust. E12 põlvkond jäi tootmisse kuni 1981. aastani ning selle ajalooline tähtsus seisneb eelkõige selles, et just see mudel pani aluse kogu BMW 5. seeria eduloole.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Minichampsi toodang. Mudelit toodeti 1536 eksemplari.

The BMW 520 (E12) is a first-generation 5 Series sedan that laid the foundation for a model family that remains one of the most important pillars of the BMW brand to this day. The E12 generation was introduced in 1972 and brought a clear and modern executive saloon concept into the BMW range, combining sportiness, comfort and everyday usability. The 520 was one of the best-known versions in the line-up and helped define the 5 Series as a driver-focused yet refined mid-size sedan.
Technically, the BMW 520 used a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in earlier form and later a 2.0-litre inline-six, but the character of the model remained consistent throughout its production life: it was a balanced and elegant BMW that offered strong driving comfort and respectable performance for its era. The E12 remained in production until 1981, and its historical importance lies above all in the fact that it established the successful formula of the entire BMW 5 Series range.
The model in my collection is produced by Minichamps. A total of 1,536 model cars were made.
