BMW Motorsport koondab BMW ajaloo kõige sportlikuma ja võidusõidule suunatud poole, tuues kokku mudelid, millega mark on aastakümnete jooksul tõestanud oma tugevust nii ringrajal, rallis, kestvussõidus kui ka prototüüpide tippklassis. Alates sõjaeelsetest erilahendustest nagu BMW KR6 ja 328 võidusõiduversioonid kuni tänapäevase BMW M Hybrid V8-ni näitab see haru, et BMW identiteet ei ole kunagi piirdunud ainult tänavaautodega. Motorsport on olnud koht, kus on katsetatud uusi tehnilisi lahendusi, arendatud mootoreid ja aerodünaamikat ning kujundatud seda sportlikku mainet, millega BMW-d tänapäevalgi seostatakse.
BMW võidusõiduajalugu on väga mitmekesine. BMW Motorsport brings together the most sporting and competition-focused side of BMW history, uniting the models with which the marque has, over the decades, proven its strength in circuit racing, rallying, endurance racing and top-level prototype competition. From pre-war specials such as the BMW KR6 and the various BMW 328 racing versions to the modern BMW M Hybrid V8, this branch shows clearly that BMW’s identity has never been limited to road cars alone. Motorsport has been the arena in which new technical solutions were tested, engines and aerodynamics were developed, and the sporting reputation still associated with BMW today was shaped.
BMW’s racing history is remarkably diverse. It includes the pre-war 328-based competition cars that gained fame through victory in the Mille Miglia, touring car era models such as the 3.0 CSL, 318iS Super Touring and M4 DTM, GT racing cars such as the Alpina B6 GT3 and M6 GT3, and Le Mans prototypes such as the V12 LM, V12 LMR and M Hybrid V8. This wide span shows very well that BMW’s success in motorsport has never been tied to just one series or one period, but has been built across many different forms of competition. Through these cars, BMW has achieved landmark victories, championship titles and technological breakthroughs that have also influenced the brand’s road cars.
On this page, BMW Motorsport forms more of a separate supporting branch within my collection, with the purpose of showing BMW’s strength in motorsport and highlighting the models that have helped shape the marque’s sporting heritage. From early rare racing machines to modern GT and prototype cars, these models create their own story of BMW’s development – a story in which speed, technical ambition, endurance and the will to win all come together.
