BMW Z4 Coupé Dolate Motorsport (E86) oli üks neist võistlusautodest, millega BMW Z4 jõudis Nürburgringi 24 tunni sõidu stardirivisse vahetult enne GT3-ajastu täiemahulist esiletõusu. 2009. aasta võistlusel kandis Dolate Motorsporti auto numbrit 173 ning esindas BMW kompaktset kupeed võistlusvormis, kus ühendati kerge kaheukseline kere, klassikaline ridakuues mootor ja kestvussõiduks kohandatud võistlusettevalmistus. Võidusõidunumbrit 173 kandnud auto roolis sõitsid Mathias Unger, Daniel Zils, Uwe Ebertz ja Timo Schupp.
Tehniliselt põhines see auto BMW Z4 Coupé E86 tänavaversioonil, mille jõuallikaks oli 3,0-liitrine ridakuues N52 mootor töömahuga 2996 cm³. Seeriaversioonis arendas see mootor 265 hobujõudu ning 2009. aasta Nürburgringi 24 tunni sõidul kuulus number 173 auto klassi V5, lõpetades võistluse 132 ringiga. See mudel esindab hästi aega, mil BMW kasutas Z4 platvormi erinevates kestvussõidu- ja klubispordi projektides, enne kui Z4 GT3 kujunes margi järgmiseks suureks võidusõidueduks.
Minu kollektsioonis olev Minichampsi mudelauto kujutab 2009. aasta autot ning pärineb piiratud tiraažist, kokku toodeti 999 eksemplari.

The BMW Z4 Coupé Dolate Motorsport (E86) was one of the racing cars with which the BMW Z4 appeared on the grid of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring just before the GT3 era fully took hold. In the 2009 race, the Dolate Motorsport car carried number 173 and represented BMW’s compact coupé in racing form, combining a lightweight two-door body, a classic inline-six engine and endurance-racing preparation. The car carrying race number 173 was driven by Mathias Unger, Daniel Zils, Uwe Ebertz and Timo Schupp.
Technically, the car was based on the BMW Z4 Coupé E86 road version, powered by the 3.0-litre N52 inline-six engine with a displacement of 2996 cc. In standard road-going form, this engine produced 265 horsepower, and in the 2009 24 Hours of Nürburgring, car number 173 competed in class V5 and completed 132 laps. This model represents well the period in which BMW used the Z4 platform in various endurance-racing and club-sport projects, before the Z4 GT3 became the marque’s next major racing success.
The Minichamps model car in my collection represents a 2009 car and comes from a limited production run, with 999 pieces produced in total.
