BMW 335 oli BMW sõjaeelse perioodi kõige suurem, võimsam ja luksuslikum seeriamudel ning tähistas margi jõudmist kõrgemasse luksusautode klassi. Mudel jõudis tootmisse 1939. aastal ning oli mõeldud konkureerima selliste kõrgetasemeliste autodega nagu Mercedes-Benz 320 ja 340. Kuigi 335 põhines suurel määral BMW 326-l, venitati selle kere pikemaks, et mahutada uus 3,5-liitrine ridakuus. Elegantse välimuse, suurema salongi ja kõrgema mugavustasemega oli tegemist autoga, mis pidi näitama, et BMW suudab pakkuda ka tõeliselt esinduslikku luksussedaani.
Tehniliselt kasutas BMW 335 3,5-liitrist ridakuue mootorit, mille võimsus ulatus 90 hobujõuni 3500 pöörde juures minutis. Tippkiirus oli umbes 145 km/h, mis tegi sellest oma aja kohta väga kiire ja võimeka luksusauto. Mudelit pakuti lisaks sedaanile ka kahe- ja neljaukselise kabrioletina, kuid sõja tõttu jäi tootmisaeg lühikeseks. BMW Group Classicu andmetel valmistati 335 sedaani 233 eksemplari, samas kui kogu 335 mudelipere kogutoodanguks hinnatakse umbes 415–420 autot. Just seetõttu on BMW 335 tänapäeval väga haruldane ja ajalooliselt oluline mudel, mis näitab hästi, milline oli BMW luksusautode tipp enne Teist maailmasõda.

The BMW 335 was the largest, most powerful and most luxurious production BMW of the pre-war period, marking the brand’s move into the upper luxury-car class. It entered production in 1939 and was intended to compete with prestigious models such as the Mercedes-Benz 320 and 340. Although the 335 was largely based on the BMW 326, its body was lengthened to accommodate a new 3.5-litre inline-six. With its elegant appearance, larger cabin and greater comfort, it was a car designed to show that BMW could also offer a truly distinguished luxury sedan.
Technically, the BMW 335 used a 3.5-litre inline-six producing 90 horsepower at 3,500 rpm. Top speed was around 145 km/h, making it a very fast and capable luxury car for its era. In addition to the sedan, the model was also offered as a two- and four-door convertible, but production remained short because of the war. According to BMW Group Classic, 233 BMW 335 sedans were built, while the overall 335 model family is generally estimated at around 415–420 cars in total. That makes the BMW 335 a very rare and historically important model today, clearly representing the peak of BMW’s pre-war luxury ambitions.
