BMW 1 Series Convertible (E88) oli esimese põlvkonna 1. seeria avatud kerevariant ning mudel, millega BMW tõi kompaktklassi tagasi klassikalise neljakohalise kabrioleti. Mudel jõudis turule 2008. aastal ning põhines tehniliselt 1. seeria Coupél, kuid pakkus avatud sõiduelamust väiksemas ja juhikeskses formaadis. E88 ühendas tagaveo, kompaktse kere ja BMW-le omase sportliku iseloomu, eristudes selgelt paljudest teistest oma ajastu väiksematest kabriolettidest.
Tehniliselt pakuti BMW 1 Series Convertible’it mitme bensiini- ja diiselmootoriga, sealhulgas nii nelja- kui kuuesilindrilistes versioonides. Pehme tekstiilkatus rõhutas klassikalist kabrioleti olemust ning võimaldas säilitada mudeli suhteliselt kerge ja elegantse iseloomu. E88 tähtsus seisneb selles, et see tõi 1. seeria mudeliperre rohkem emotsiooni ja vabaduse tunnet, säilitades samal ajal igapäevase kasutatavuse.

The BMW 1 Series Convertible (E88) was the open-top version of the first-generation 1 Series and the model with which BMW brought the classic four-seat convertible back into the compact class. It reached the market in 2008 and was technically based on the 1 Series Coupé, but offered open-air driving enjoyment in a smaller, driver-focused format. The E88 combined rear-wheel drive, compact dimensions and BMW’s characteristic sporting character, setting itself apart from many other small convertibles of its era.
Technically, the BMW 1 Series Convertible was offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, including both four- and six-cylinder versions. Its soft-top roof emphasized the classic convertible character and helped preserve the model’s relatively light and elegant nature. The significance of the E88 lies in the way it added more emotion and a sense of freedom to the 1 Series family while still retaining everyday usability.
The model in my collection is produced by Minichamps and is an official BMW dealer edition.
