BMW 3 Series Sedan (E21)

BMW 3. seeria (E21) oli esimene 3. seeria põlvkond ning mudel, millega BMW pani aluse kogu oma kõige olulisemale mudeliperele. Auto esitleti 1975. aasta juulis 02-seeria järeltulijana ning see tõi BMW kompaktklassi uue, selgelt sportlikuma ja juhikesksema suuna. E21 paistis silma puhta ja tasakaalustatud disainiga ning oli esimene BMW, mille juhikabiin oli selgelt juhi poole pööratud. Just see mudel aitas määratleda 3. seeria kui sportliku keskklassi standardi, mille mõju on tunda kõigis hilisemates põlvkondades.
Tehniliselt pakuti BMW E21 alguses neljasilindriliste mootoritega, kuid 1977. aastal lisandusid kuuesilindrilised versioonid, mis tõstsid mudeli iseloomu veelgi sportlikumaks. Esimese põlvkonna 3. seeria tähtsus seisneb selles, et see ühendas kompaktse mõõdu, täpse juhitavuse ja laia mootorivaliku üheks väga selge identiteediga mudeliks.

Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Minichampsi toodang ning kujutab 1975. aasta autot.

The BMW 3 Series (E21) was the first generation of the 3 Series and the model that laid the foundation for BMW’s most important model family. It was introduced in July 1975 as the successor to the 02 Series and brought a new, clearly more sporting and driver-focused direction to BMW’s compact class. The E21 stood out through its clean and well-balanced design and was the first BMW to feature a cockpit clearly angled towards the driver. It was this model that helped define the 3 Series as the benchmark for the sporting mid-size segment, a role it has retained ever since.
Technically, the BMW E21 was initially offered with four-cylinder engines, while six-cylinder versions joined the range in 1977 and gave the model an even more sporting character. The importance of the first-generation 3 Series lies in the way it combined compact dimensions, precise handling and a broad engine range into a model with a very clear identity.

The model in my collection is produced by Minichamps and represents a 1975 car.
