Automaailmas seostatakse teda eelkõige Studebakeri disainiga, sealhulgas hilisema Avanti mudeliga. Just seetõttu on BMW 507 Raymond Loewy versioon eriti huvitav: see ühendab BMW tehnilise aluse Ameerika-Prantsuse disainimõttega ning erineb tavalisest 507-st väga selgelt.
Loewy 507 ehitati 1957. aastal BMW 507 alusele.
BMW 507 Raymond Loewy esitleti 1957. aasta Pariisi autonäitusel.
Seetõttu on see mudel kollektsioonis väärtuslik just kui eriline disainilugu BMW 507 kõrval.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on AutoCulti toodang. Mudel kujutab 1957. aasta BMW 507 Raymond Loewy autot ning seda toodeti piiratud tiraažis kokku 333 eksemplari.

BMW 507 Raymond Loewy was one of the most unusual cars created on the basis of the BMW 507 and belongs among the most distinctive coachbuilt specials in BMW history. The regular BMW 507 was an elegant two-seat roadster designed by Albrecht Graf Görtz and is regarded as one of BMW’s most beautiful classic sports cars. The Raymond Loewy version, however, went in a completely different direction: it was not an official BMW production model, but the personal vision of the world-famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy.
Raymond Loewy was one of the most influential industrial designers of the 20th century. His name is connected with a wide variety of products and visual identities, from company logos to locomotives, household appliances and cars. In the automotive world, he is especially associated with Studebaker design, including the later Avanti. This makes the BMW 507 Raymond Loewy version particularly interesting, as it combines a BMW technical basis with an American-French design approach and differs very clearly from the regular 507.
The Loewy 507 was built in 1957 on the basis of a BMW 507. The car received a completely redesigned body, created with the involvement of the French coachbuilder Pichon et Parat. Unlike the open 507 roadster, the Loewy version was a coachbuilt coupé, with proportions, front-end treatment and details that looked highly futuristic for their time. The low and smooth nose, unusual headlight arrangement and more streamlined overall form made the car more of a design experiment than a traditional BMW sports car.
The BMW 507 Raymond Loewy was shown at the 1957 Paris Motor Show. The car remained a unique one-off special and did not lead to a BMW production design direction. Nevertheless, it is an important example of how the BMW 507 platform also inspired independent designers and coachbuilders. While the regular 507 represents the classic and balanced beauty of a 1950s roadster, the Loewy version shows a much bolder and more experimental interpretation of the same car.
Technically, the car was based on the BMW 507, which used a 3.2-litre eight-cylinder V engine. In the production BMW 507, this engine produced 150 hp and gave the car a top speed of around 205 km/h. In the case of the Loewy special, the main significance lies not in a technical change, but in the complete reinterpretation of the body and design. For this reason, the model is valuable in the collection especially as a distinctive design story alongside the BMW 507.
The model in my collection is produced by AutoCult. The model represents a 1957 BMW 507 Raymond Loewy car and was produced in a limited run of 333 pieces.
