BMW Dixi 3/15 Limousine kuulub mudeliperre, millega BMW alustas oma teekonda autotootjana. Dixi ja hilisema BMW 3/15 seeria juured ulatusid litsentsi alusel toodetud Austin Sevenini, kuid Eisenachis valmistatud autod kohandati Saksa turu jaoks ning neist sai margi ajaloo seisukohalt väga oluline alguspunkt. Just 3/15 mudelirida tähistas BMW esimesi samme väikeste sõiduautode tootjana ning Limousine-versioon oli selle mudelipere üks praktilisemaid ja igapäevaseks kasutuseks sobivamaid kerevariante.
DA2 Limousine eristus hilisemast DA4 versioonist eelkõige oma varasema kerekujuga. Sellele oli iseloomulik kinnine teraskere ning eraldi pagasiruumijätke, mis andis autole selgema klassikalise sedaani ilme. Hilisem DA4 tõi kaasa ümber kujundatud kere ja pikema salongi, kuid DA2 esindas veel varasema 3/15 arenguetapi kompaktsemat ja traditsioonilisemat lahendust. Just see muudab DA2 Limousine’i huvitavaks näiteks BMW kõige varasemast sõiduautode ajastust.
Tehniliselt jäi BMW 3/15 truuks oma lihtsale ja ökonoomsele kontseptsioonile. Mudel kasutas 747 cm³ ridanelja võimsusega 15 hobujõudu ning selle tugevus ei seisnenud mitte niivõrd jõudluses, kuivõrd kerges kaalus, lihtsas ehituses ja taskukohases kasutamises. Limousine kehastas selles mudelireas väikest, kuid täisväärtuslikku pereautot, millega BMW sai oma esimesed kogemused laiemale ostjaskonnale suunatud sõiduautode valmistamisel.
Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Schuco toodang ja kujutab BMW 3/15 Limousine (DA2) varianti.

The BMW Dixi 3/15 Limousine belongs to the model family with which BMW began its journey as an automobile manufacturer. The roots of the Dixi and later BMW 3/15 series went back to the Austin Seven built under licence, but the cars produced in Eisenach were adapted for the German market and became a very important starting point in the brand’s history. The 3/15 model range marked BMW’s first steps as a producer of small passenger cars, and the Limousine version was one of the most practical and everyday-friendly body styles in the line-up.
The DA2 Limousine differed from the later DA4 version mainly through its earlier body design. It featured a closed steel body and a distinct rear luggage compartment, giving the car a more clearly traditional saloon appearance. The later DA4 introduced a redesigned body and a longer passenger compartment, while the DA2 still represented the more compact and traditional solution of the earlier 3/15 development phase. This is exactly what makes the DA2 Limousine such an interesting example from BMW’s earliest passenger car era.
Technically, the BMW 3/15 remained true to its simple and economical concept. The model used a 747 cc inline-four engine producing 15 horsepower, and its strength did not lie so much in outright performance as in its light weight, simple construction and affordable operation. Within the model range, the Limousine represented a small yet fully fledged family car through which BMW gained its first experience in producing passenger cars for a broader customer base.
The model in my collection is produced by Schuco and represents the BMW 3/15 Limousine (DA2).
