BMW M3 Coupe (E36)

BMW M3 Coupé (E36) oli mudel, millega BMW viis oma legendaarse M3 täiesti uude ajastusse. 1992. aastal esitletud auto oli esimene E36 põlvkonna M3 ning tähistas selget muutust võrreldes eelkäija E30-ga. Kui varasem M3 oli tugevalt seotud homologatsiooni ja võidusõiduga, siis E36 M3 kujunes küpsemaks, voolujoonelisemaks ja igapäevaselt paremini kasutatavaks sportautoks. Samal ajal säilis mudelil siiski tugev sportlik identiteet, mida toetasid kupeekerest tulenev elegantne proportsioon, agressiivsemad detailid ja BMW M-mudelitele omane tasakaal jõudluse ning juhitavuse vahel.
Tehniliselt kasutas 1992. aasta BMW M3 Coupé 3,0-liitrist ridakuues mootorit tähisega S50B30, mille töömaht oli 2990 cm³ ja võimsus ulatus 286 hobujõuni. Jõud kanti tagaratastele viiekäigulise manuaalkäigukasti kaudu ning auto suutis pakkuda oma ajastu kohta väga kõrget sooritusvõimet. Võrreldes tavalise E36 Coupéga eristus M3 sportlikuma vedrustuse, parema pidurivõimekuse ning aerodünaamiliste täiustustega, mis andsid autole enesekindlama hoiaku ja teravama iseloomu. E36 M3 oli oluline mudel ka seetõttu, et see laiendas M3 kontseptsiooni puhtast homologatsioonieriversioonist luksuslikumaks, kuid endiselt väga kiireks sportkupeeks. 3,0-liitrine algversioon jäi tootmisse kuni 1995. aastani, enne kui selle asemele tuli uuendatud 3,2-liitrine versioon. Just see varajane 3,0-liitrine mudel on E36 M3 loo alguspunkt ning oluline peatükk BMW M-autode ajaloos.

The BMW M3 Coupé (E36) was the model that brought BMW’s legendary M3 into a completely new era. Introduced in 1992, it was the first M3 of the E36 generation and marked a clear shift compared with its E30 predecessor. While the earlier M3 was closely tied to homologation and motorsport, the E36 M3 became a more mature, more streamlined and more usable everyday performance car. At the same time, it retained a strong sporting identity, supported by the elegant proportions of the coupé body, more aggressive details and the characteristic BMW M balance between performance and handling.
Technically, the 1992 BMW M3 Coupé used the 3.0-litre inline-six engine known as the S50B30, with a displacement of 2990 cc and an output of 286 horsepower. Power was sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, and the car offered very high performance for its era. Compared with the regular E36 Coupé, the M3 stood out through its sportier suspension, stronger braking capability and aerodynamic refinements, which gave it a more confident stance and a sharper character. The E36 M3 was also important because it expanded the M3 concept from a pure homologation special into a more refined yet still very fast performance coupé. This original 3.0-litre version remained in production until 1995, before being replaced by the updated 3.2-litre model. As such, the early 3.0-litre version represents the starting point of the E36 M3 story and an important chapter in the history of BMW M cars.
