BMW M3 Convertible (E93)

BMW M3 Convertible (E93) oli mudel, millega BMW tõi neljanda põlvkonna M3 tehnika avatud keretüübini ajal, mil M3 südameks oli vabalthingav V8-mootor. Võrreldes tavalise E93 3. seeria kabrioletiga eristus M3 laiemate poritiibade, jõulisema esiosa, nelja väljalaskeotsa ja selgelt sportlikuma hoiakuga. Samal ajal säilitas see luksuslikuma ja küpsema iseloomu, mis sobis hästi kokku metallist kokkuklapitava kõvakatusega kerega. Just see kombinatsioon teeb E93 M3-st ühe oma ajastu erilisema BMW M-mudeli, sest see ühendas avatud sõidu elamuse ja tõsiseltvõetava sportauto tehnika väga omanäoliseks tervikuks.
Tehniliselt kasutas BMW M3 Convertible (E93) 4,0-liitrist V8-mootorit tähisega S65B40, mille töömaht oli 3999 cm³ ja võimsus 420 hobujõudu. Jõud kanti tagaratastele kuuekäigulise manuaalkäigukasti või seitsmekäigulise M DCT kaudu ning kogu E9x M3 põlvkond jäi viimaseks, kus kasutati vabalthingavat V8-mootorit. E93 M3 tootmine kestis aastatel 2007–2013 ning seda kereversiooni valmis kokku 16 219 eksemplari. See annab sellele mudelile üsna erilise koha M3 ajaloos, sest tegemist oli suhteliselt piiratud tootmismahuga avatud M3-ga.

The BMW M3 Convertible (E93) was the model that brought fourth-generation M3 engineering into an open-top body style at a time when the M3 was powered by a naturally aspirated V8. Compared with the regular E93 3 Series Convertible, the M3 stood out through its wider fenders, more muscular front end, quad exhaust outlets and a clearly more aggressive stance. At the same time, it retained the more refined and mature character that suited the retractable metal hardtop body very well. It is precisely this combination that makes the E93 M3 one of the more distinctive BMW M models of its era, blending open-top motoring with serious performance car engineering in a very individual package.
Technically, the BMW M3 Convertible (E93) used the 4.0-litre V8 engine known as the S65B40, with a displacement of 3999 cc and an output of 420 horsepower. Power was sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed M DCT transmission, and the entire E9x M3 generation became the last to use a naturally aspirated V8. Production of the E93 M3 lasted from 2007 to 2013, and a total of 16,219 examples were built. That gives this model a rather special place in M3 history, as it was an open M3 with relatively limited production numbers.
