BMW Alpina B6 3.5 (E30) oli üks erilisemaid Alpina tõlgendusi E30 põlvkonna 3. seeriast. Selle mudeliga ühendas Alpina kompaktse E30 kere suurema kuuesilindrilise mootoriga, luues väga omanäolise kombinatsiooni jõust, luksusest ja tagasihoidlikust enesekindlusest. 1986. aasta auto esindab perioodi, mil Alpina pakkus BMW mudelite põhjal omaette alternatiivi BMW M lähenemisele – mitte niivõrd puhtalt motorspordile suunatud autot, vaid kiiret ja eksklusiivset grand tourer’i laadset sportmudelit.

BMW Alpina B6 3.5 (E30) was one of Alpina’s most distinctive interpretations of the E30-generation 3 Series. With this model, Alpina combined the compact E30 body with a larger six-cylinder engine, creating a very individual blend of power, luxury and understated confidence. The 1986 car represents a period when Alpina offered its own alternative to BMW M’s approach — not so much a purely motorsport-focused car, but a fast and exclusive grand tourer-style sports model.
While the BMW M3 of the same era focused primarily on its racing background, lighter body and high-revving four-cylinder engine, the Alpina B6 3.5 offered a different character. At its heart was a large-displacement straight-six engine, giving the car strong reserves of power, smooth acceleration and a more mature driving feel. This contrast between the M3 and the Alpina B6 3.5 is exactly what makes the model one of the most interesting special versions of the E30 era.
Technically, the BMW Alpina B6 3.5 used a 3.5-litre straight-six engine with a displacement of 3,430 cm³. The 1986 version produced around 254 hp, which was a very impressive figure for the compact E30 body. According to Alpina Archive, a total of 219 examples of the B6 3.5 were produced between 1984 and 1990, making it a very rare car even by Alpina standards.
The B6 3.5 combined the compact dimensions of the E30, rear-wheel drive, a large six-cylinder engine and Alpina’s characteristic level of refinement into a package that clearly stood apart from the regular BMW 3 Series. Today, it is valued for its rarity, technical boldness and Alpina’s typically understated exclusivity.
