Minu kollektsioonis olev mudel on Schuco toodang. Tegemist on piiratud tiraažiga ning mudelit toodeti 1000 eksemplari.

The BMW Turbo X1 is one of the most important and futuristic concept cars in BMW history. Introduced in 1972, it was created to show what a BMW sports car of the future might look like. Its wedge-shaped body, gullwing doors and extremely bold styling clearly set it apart from anything BMW had built before. The BMW Turbo was also important because its design and technical philosophy later influenced the development of the BMW M1 and, more broadly, the identity of BMW sports cars.
Technically, the BMW Turbo X1 used a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing around 280 horsepower. The car was based on modified BMW 2002 underpinnings, but used a mid-engine layout, making it exceptionally radical for its time. According to BMW M, it also represented an important technological vision, as the concept incorporated several features that anticipated later safety and driver-assistance systems. Only two examples of the BMW Turbo were built, which makes it one of the rarest and most influential BMW concept cars today.
The model in my collection is produced by Schuco. It is a limited edition of 1,000 pieces.
Technical data at a glance:
Production period: 1972, concept/prototype.
Production location: BMW concept car, two show cars built.
Engine: 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four.
Power output: around 280 hp.
Production total: 2 cars.
Special feature: futuristic mid-engined concept car that influenced the later BMW M1.
